Title: Functional magnetic stimulation of pelvic floor in female stress urinary incontinence
Abstract: Objective To evaluate the clinical results of efficiency and applicability of functional magnetic stimulation of the pelvic floor for treating urinary incontinence in women.Methods A total of 20 women with demonstrable stress urinary incontinence were prospectively studied by treating with magnetic stimulation.Pretreatment and posttreatment evaluation was accessed by clinical history,voiding diary,quality of life survey and simple bladder filling test.Patients were followed up for 3 months.Results About 75 % of the patients were completely dry and 15 % reported subjective improvement.The recurrence rate at 3 months follow-up was 60 %.Conclusion Magnetic stimulation of pelvic floor is a safe,noninvasive and painless treatment for stress urinary incontinence.It is effective and easy to perform as an outpatient treatment in short term observation.But the long term effect should be further studied.
