Title: Photosynthetic characteristics of four arbor species in the limestone mountains at Xuzhou
Abstract: In order to analyze the difference on photosynthetic characteristics among four arbor species in limestone mountain, the photosynthetic indexes of Liquidambar formosana,Cotinus coggygria,Koelreuteria paniculata and Firmiana simplex were measured by a Li-6400 portable photosynthesis. Results showed that net photosynthetic rates of C.coggygria had a changing course daily in double peaked, while the others were in unimodal curve.Four arbor species appeared obvious phenomenon of noon break, and average diurnal value of both net photosynthetic and transpiration rate were ordered by Koelreuteria paniculata Liquidambar formosana Cotinus coggygria Firmiana simplex.Their stomatal conductance value reduced in afternoon,Firmiana simplex presented minimal daily average stomatal conductance.Liquidambar formosana and Koelreuteria paniculata exhibited the higher water use efficiencies than those of Cotinus coggygria and Firmiana simplex. In four arbor species,Koelreuteria paniculata occupied the strongest photosynthetic capacity,Firmiana simplex had the least diurnal transpiration rate and stomatal conductance, which could tolerance drought.Major factors that affect photosynthesis were the air relative humidity and stomatal conductance.
