Title: Treatment of chronic suppurative otitis media by tympanoplasty
Abstract: Objective:To explore the therapeutic effects of tympanoplasty on chronic suppurative otitis media.Methods:Forty three cases treated with tympanoplasty were retrospectively analyzed.Twnety six ears were performed type Ⅰ tympanoplasty,3 ears type Ⅱ tympanoplasty,plus open mastoidectomy,and 14 ears type Ⅲ tympanoplasty,plus open mastoidectomy.Results:All the cases were followed up for 6 to 12 months.Post operation hearing improvement was significant( P 0.001).Success rate of tympanoplasty was 88.4%.Drying ear rate was 93.0%.Conclusions:Type Ⅰ tympanoplasty and type Ⅲ tympanoplasty can improve hearing effectively.The plasty of cavity of auricular concha and mastoid obliteration can raise drying ear rate.The criterions of success are focuses clearance and reconstruction of air room in middle ear.
