Title: Clinical Analysis and Surgical Approach of External Auditory Canal Cholesteatoma
Abstract: Objective To define the clinical features of cholesteatoma and external auditory canal treatment.Methods The clinical data of eighteen cases from 2008 to 2011 were retrospectively reviewed.Among the cases,12 cases limited in external auditory canal were treated with focus clearance;6 cases invading to middle ear were treated with mastoidotympanectomy and tympanoplasty;All patients were followed up with period of 6 months to 3 years.Results All patients treated by surgery,patients without recurrence,hearing a good recovery after the surgery.Conclusion The external auditory canal cholesteatoma clinical features and extent of the lesion to determine its approach,surgical treatment should be adopted in principle the elimination of cholesteatoma.
