Title: Study on cold hardiness of major jujube cultivars in northwestern China
Abstract: In order to study the cold hardiness of major jujube cultivars in Northwestern China,one-year-old dormant shoots of 9 major jujube cultivars in this area were used as the materials. The relative electric conductivity(REC) after different temperature treatments was observed and the semilethal temperature(LT50) was obtained by using the Logistic equation. The results showed that there was obvious difference in cold hardiness among these cultivars. The LT50 ranged from-20.16 ℃ to-32 ℃ and the order of cold hardiness was ZhongyangmuzaoJunzaoZhanhuadongzaoLinyilizaoXuechengdongzaoXiangzao GoutouzaoJinzaoJinchang 1.It is suggested that Zhongyangmuzao is cold-resistant and Junzao was less-resistant,the others were bad cold-resistant.Additionally,the frost-free period of different cultivation area significantly influenced the cold hardiness of cultivars with long growth period.
