Title: Study on Separation and Screening of Phosphate Accumulating Bacterial Strain PAO1-1 and Characteristics of Phosphorus Removal
Abstract: A phosphate accumulating bacterial strain PAO11 was separated and screened from the biological phosphorus removal sludge which was supplied with domestic sewage as carbon source under steady operation. The strain can enhance the conventional activated sludge;after it was acclimated for 10 d,the phosphorus removal rate was raised from 44% with no added strain to over 90%.According to the morphology, physiology, biochemical features, and 16S rDNA sequence analysis, the strain was identified to be Alcaligenes sp.The strain′s phosphorus uptake rate was averaged at 13.8 mg/(g·h),and(19.2) mg/(g·h) at phosphorus-starving period,39.1% higher than that in non-starving period.PAO1-1 at log phase had phosphate release rate of 11.8 mg/(g·h) h in no phosphorus culture under anaerobic phase, and had the rate of 7.0 mg/(g·h) in stable phase. The phosphorus release rate in stable phase was 40.7% lower than that in log phase.
