Title: Photocatalytic degradation of methyl orange of high concentration with TiO_2 membrane
Abstract: The photocatalytic degradation of methyl orange solution, which initial concentration was higher than 600 mg·L-1, was studied with TiO2 membrane. The TiO2 membrane of mean diameter 50 ~ 100 nm was immobilized on the activated carbon particles of mean diameter 300 - 500 um. The experimental result showed that the photocatalytic activity of TiO2 membrane was higher than that of TiO2 powder photocatalyst of mean diameter 0.33 um. Effects of the photocatalyst dosage, the initial concentration and pH value of the methyl orange solution on the degradation rate were discussed. The photocatalytic reaction was efficient under the condition of the photocatalyst dosage 0.2 wt% , pH = 4.0 and different initial concentrations, and the degradation rate corresponded with the first-order kinetics equation.
