Title: Misdiognosis and delayed diagnosis of breast lesions by frozen section
Abstract: Objective To explore the reasons of misdiagnosis and delayed diagnosis of breast lesions by frozen section,and then improve the diagnostic accuracy.Methods Intraoperative frozen sections of breast had been collected from Jan.2007 to Jan.2010.The breast lesions were divided into benign,borderline,malignant lesions,and the frozen sections were compared with paraffin sections.Results False negative diagnosis of breast frozen(misdiagnosis) in 2 cases which were neuroendocrine carcinoma and papillary carcinoma,and the main reason lacked of knowledge on the disease and drawn not in place;6 cases of delayed diagnosis include three cases of sclerosing adenosis,1 case of invasive ductal carcinoma,1 case of atypical papilloma and 1 case of borderline phyllodes tumor.The main reason was the diagnosis of breast lesions in a number of pitfalls of frozen,drawn incorrectly,production factors such as delay in diagnosis of non-performing.Conclusion It is necessary to strengthen the understanding of breast lesions for complex problems in the frozen section.
