Title: A Fungus Observed on Egg Clusters of the Gypsy Moth, Porthetria dispar (Lepidoptera: Lymantriidae)
Abstract: During November and December 1971 the entomogenous fungus Paecilomyces farinosus2 (Dickson ex. Fries) Brown and Smith was observed growing on egg clusters of the gypsy moth, Porthetria dispar (L.). This fungus has not heretofore been reported on gypsy moth eggs, although its colonies are quite conspicuous. In this note, its association with gypsy moth eggs, distribution, and abundance on egg clusters of the gypsy moth in Connecticut are reported.
