Title: Desarrollo de un viscosímetro para la caracterización a alta presión de nuevos biocombustibles y mezclas acuosas de aminas para la captura de CO2
Abstract: Sustainability is a major concern for society nowadays. This concept refers to the compatibility between "today" and "tomorrow".This fact is something that we assume, but it is not as trivial as we think.Lots of efforts must be done to keep the world running in a sustainable way, being research the key tool to solve problems which vary from our society's dependence on fossil fuels to huge amounts of CO 2 emissions, causing undesirable phenomena such as greenhouse effect. In that sense, this PhD Thesis expects to be a contribution in this field through the measurement of viscosity, a thermophysical property which plays a crucial role in most transport processes (from industry to medicine). Two important goals have been reached:1) A new automated falling body viscometer, which is able to measure viscosity of liquids at high pressures, has been completely developed in our laboratory.2) New experimental viscosity data have been provided to the scientific community in wide ranges of pressure and temperature. They will enable a better characterization of some liquids which will play an important role in our society's future in the field of sustainability, being those fluids aqueous blends of amines for CO 2 capture or new generation biofuels.
