Title: Painer reservoir field: optimizing recovery from a saturated volatile oil reservoir
Abstract: The geological formation of the Painter Reservoir Field located in southwest Arizona is discussed in some detail. Reservoir depletion methods considered for the field are natural depletion, infection of hydrocarbon gas, cycling of the gas cap with a lean hydrocarbon gas, injection of N/sub 2/, injection of flue gas or exhaust gas, and injection of CO/sub 2/. It was deemed most feasible to maintain the gas cap with a fluid of lesser value in order to maximize oil zone recovery. The most economical fluid was N/sub 2/. Data are presented to show the results predicted for use of N/sub 2/ to maintain pressure, and the reasons for choosing N/sub 2/ rather than CO/sub 2/ are discussed. (BLM)
