Title: Synthesis, Structure and Spectra of a Binuclear Sm(III) Complex: [Sm2(phen)2(C6H5COO)4(CH3COO)2]
Abstract: Abstract In C2H5OH and H2O as solvent, the reaction of Sm(NO3)3·6H2O with C6H5COONa, phen (phen = phenanthroline) and HOAc produced binuclear Sm(III) complex [Sm2(phen)2(C6H5COO)4(CH3COO)2]. Its structure has been studied by X-ray diffraction. The complex molecule is centrosymmetric and each Sm(III) ion is 9-coordinated in an irregular polyhedron. Two Sm(III) ions are bridged by two C6H5COO− groups and two CH3COO− groups. The complex crystallizes in the triclinic, space group P -1, with a = 9.892(2) Å, b = 12.032(3) Å, c = 12.612(2) Å, α = 65.950(9)°, β = 67.731(11)°, γ = 66.803(11)°, V = 1216.5(3) Å,3 Z = 1. The final R = 0.0282, wR = 0.0706. The UV-VIS-NIR and IR spectra of the complex have been determined and discussed.
