Title: Degradation of PCB52 in Aqueous Solution by ultrasound/Fenton process
Abstract: The degradation of PCB52 in aqueous solution by ultrasound/Fenton process was investigated. And the effects of ultrasonic power, ultrasonic frequency, initial pH values of the solution and dosage of hydrogen peroxide and ferrous ions on the degradation efficiency were studied. The results indicated that the degradation efficiency increased with the decrease of pH value, and the ultrasonic frequency, ultrasonic power, and dosage of hydrogen peroxide and ferrous ions existed optimal values. At the temperature of (25+2)°C, the optimum conditions of the degradation of PCB52 by ultrasound/Fenton process included ultrasonic power of 700w, ultrasonic frequency of 28 kHz, initial pH values of 4.0 and the dosage of hydrogen peroxide and ferrous ions of 86mmol/L and lmmol/L, respectively. In the optimal conditions, the degradation of PCB52 was in conformity with pseudo-first order kinetics. Ultrasound/Fenton process achieved better degradation of PCB52 than ultrasound or Fenton reagent alone, which decomposed 92.8% of 70 μ g/L PCB52 within 60 minute in optimum conditions.
