Title: Automotive network gateway to control electronic units through MOST network
Abstract: The mechanical control interfaces in automobiles are replaced rapidly by electrical interfaces in which the electric control units (ECUs) are connected through networks. Recently as the requirements on the infotainment applications for automobiles are increasing drastically, new automobile network called MOST (media oriented system transport) has been introduced. Due to its high bandwidth and QoS support, the control panel such as head unit is desirable to be connected to MOST and extend services to control ECUs directly. Since many ECUs are connected to the traditional automotive networks such as CAN and LIN we need a network gateway to control the legacy ECUs through MOST. In this paper, we aim to design and implement a Linux-based automotive network gateway to bridge between MOST and CAN. The proposed network gateway can be applied to the next-generation automobiles and leverage various automotive applications such as intelligent automotive head units and diagnostic systems.
