Abstract: The aerial parts of D. sanguinea contain scopolamine as the principal alkaloid together with smaller quantities of hyoscyamine, norscopolamine, aposcopolamine, and other uncharacterised bases. From the roots, 3α, 6β–ditigloyloxytropane, 3,6–ditigloyloxytropan–7–ol, hyoscine, hyosciamine (and/or atropine) and small amounts of other alkaloids have been isolated.
