Title: Approximate empirical formula for internal conversion coefficients
Abstract: The internal conversion coefficient is one of the important factors upon which the detection lirmit for a radionuclide depends when a gamma - scintillation spectrometer is employed for detection. This coefficient was determined for a relatively small proportion of all gamma rays. About 445 can be found in the Table of Isotopes, including cases in which the coefficient can be estimated from related data. If the coefficient is expressed as a function of gamma energy, the coefficients for other energies may be estimated to some extent. The values were plotted, and a formula was derived which has a probability of 95%. Examples of the application of the formula are given. (B.O.G.)
