Abstract: Although humans have evolved in an environment of ionizing radiation, it was not until man-made sources were developed that the effects of ionizing radiation started to become known. Detection and measurement of radiation is not only sophisticated but widely applied. This article deals with exposure to this kind of radiation and the risk it may cause.
