Abstract: This article presents a parametric study of CO2 injection in waterflooded reservoirs. It gives production cost and stresses key economic parameters. A two-dimensional model is used to evaluate the influence of reservoir properties and operating parameters on oil recovery. The mathematical model applies to stratified reservoirs in which permeabilities of the layers follow a log normal distribution. It is assumed that the injection rate is constant throughout the life of the EOR project. Pressure is kept constant, and in the CO2-swept zone the microscopic sweep efficiency is the same as for a miscible displacement. Viscous forces dominate the flow. The results of this model were checked against typical waterflood performances.
