Title: Propene Oligomerization Over Boron Modified ZSM-5
Abstract: High pressure propene oligomerization was carried out over ZSM-5, ZSM-5 impregnated with boric acid, and boralite of varying B and trace Al content. Boralite, silicalite, and 1.5 wt% boron impregnated ZSM-5 were not active for oligomerization below 300°C and had much shorter lifetime than ZSM-5. The strength of acidity as measured by ammonia TPD was reduced considerably in the latter three cases relative to ZSM-5. When boron content was reduced to 0.4 wt%, the activity of the catalyst depended on the method of boron loading. There was no evidence that boron in boralite played a significant role in the activity of the catalyst.
